Undergraduate and High School Research Opportunities

Our Network Science MURI has received a supplemental grant to extend research opportunities to motivated high school and undergraduate students during Summer 2021. The Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) will fund three apprentices from mid-June through mid-August. The apprentices will work side-by-side with MURI faculty and graduate students and will learn about running experiments, collecting and modeling data, and communicating scientific results. Interested applicants should apply directly through the AEOP apprentice website. The application portal opens on January 15, 2021 and closes on March 15, 2021. 

High school apprentice requirements

  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Junior or Senior standing
  • Interest in STEM career. 3.5 GPA. Some experience in programming and statistics.
  • 1-page statement of overall academic/research/career interests
  • Register for an information session for High School Apprentices here

Undergraduate apprentice requirements

  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Major in Sociology (with interest in quantitative sociology), Computer Science, Statistics, or Communication.
  • Experience in programming and statistics (lower-division classes OK)
  • 3.0 GPA
  • 1-page statement of overall academic/research interests.

All participants will receive stipends and additional perks through the AEOP. We are committed to promoting diversity within STEM fields. Women, underrepresented minorities, and individuals from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.
